Tiivistelmä
e-Learning provides a cheap and scalable way of conducting training for large amounts of people. Organizations with thousands of employees often experience difficulty managing their staff-training needs with conventional face-to-face training events. It’s for this reason that customers of eTaika Oy expressed their desire for an e-Learning solution.
A Learning Management System by the name of SCORM Cloud was integrated within the HR-related services offered by eTaika Oy. The LMS follows the SCORM e-Learning standard, meaning that customers can create and upload their own online courses to the system with ease. Administrator users upload online course files onto courses, and basic users can enroll to courses using a course calendar.
The LMS entered early testing phase in early autumn 2018. The decision to conduct usability testing was made following the recommendation by Haaga-Helia professor Altti Lagstedt. Usability testing was conducted using various methods to find out whether or not the beta-version of the LMS was usable and ready for production launch. This document details the theory, planning and outcome of the research.
Three testing methods were used in assessing usability: a usability test, a System Usability Scale questionnaire, and a heuristic review. A total of 7 administrator users and 8 basic users were tested. The Research concluded that the administrator functionalities are usable whereas basic user functionalities are not. The contingency plan is to correct some technical errors and improve labelling to increase the basic user experience using the SCORM integration.
