Tiivistelmä
The research aims to find out the feasibility of the business idea – the reusable takeaway coffee bag in Helsinki, Finland. The impacts that the plastic bags and the paper bags have on the environment have posed a significant threat to humanity. Plastics waste pollutes the environment in such way that negatively affects not only wildlife animals, wildlife habitat, humans but also land, waterways, and oceans. The author realised that there is an opportunity for a business idea that matches the solution for such issues to the Finnish lifestyle and cultural aspects.
The study predominantly uses the deductive approach and a mixture of both qualitative and quantitative methods as the research methods. The data collection includes both primary and secondary data. The secondary data is collected from articles, books and previous statistical results online to study the market trends. The primary data is collected by doing a questionnaire, a focus group and product prototypes to understand the product itself, the market, and the customers’ behaviour. Primary data is used to confirm all the findings from secondary data and helps come up with the research’s conclusion.
The theoretical part presents all the relevant theories that are used in the thesis, whereas, the empirical research shows how the data is collected. After that, the study is done by carrying out a feasibility analysis on four aspects of a business idea: industry & market feasibility, product feasibility, organizational feasibility, financial feasibility.
The results concluded from the study shows how feasible the author’s business idea is. The scope, limitations, reliability, and visibility of the research are presented. Recommendations and further research are suggested at the near end of the study.
