The purpose of this study is to examine whether the support muscles around the lungs affect the song if they are trained regularly for a period of eight weeks.
Three people got a workout schedule to follow for eight weeks, and were tested before the training, and then tested again after eight weeks had passed.
The results of the study showed, that increased muscle mass, can affect both positively and negatively. For the experienced singer, with a well-functioning vocal support, the increased strength became a bit of a problem, because the support muscles were used to work in a certain way, while the less experienced singer, found it easier to find a support with more active abdominal muscles. The research approach, that has been used in the implementation of this thesis, is called action research.
