This thesis is a quantitative eye tracking research that explores how the eye follows the pictures in a movie. There has not been any other similar research done regarding this subject, at least not published, which made this subject very interesting as my thesis.
In this research, 16 test subjects have been divided into two groups to se a short movie. Both of the group saw the movie “Se på mig”, a short movie that has been made in Arcada, but different versions of it. The first group saw the original version and the other group saw the same movie but with extra sound effects.
The idea was to see if there were any differences between how these two groups saw the movie during the time when the extra sound effects appear in the second movie. The scenes as when these extra sound effects appear in the movie is based on the results from the first eye tracking test. In case the tests show that there is considerable differences between how the test subjects watch the movie, then it is clear that you by editing the sound can affect how people watch a movie.
