This thesis looks at the dialogue between the editor (me) and the director of the film I en-samhetens stad”. The questions are; how might a dialogue between the editor and direc-tor look like during the editing of a movie, and if there is a disagreement how is it solved? The thesis is made as a case study to closely study the dialogue. The purpose is to high-light the editors’ roll in the making of a film.
During the editing the editor has to make a lot of choices, and usually works closely with the director of the film, because of that it is important to be able to communicate with each other and listen to each other. To be able to motivate your decisions and opinions, and discuss them if there is a disagreement to make the best possible film.
