The thesis is about customer experiences in vocational rehabilitation worker encounters, services, and rehabilitation process in Sovatek foundation from Jyväskylä.
The two-part research was made to survey background information of vocational rehabilitation clients and to collect customer experiences of employee encounters from the perspective of three guiding themes of social work. These three premises were interaction, dialogue, as well as exper-tise and power.
The investigation revealed that the background of selected customers for rehabilitation was main-ly in line with the statistics of Kela. The background information also proved, only a very small part of vocational rehabilitation clients in Sovatek Foundation’s other rehabilitation services, are directed to vocational rehabilitation.
From customer experiences, trust and the caring role were two of the main reasons in the success of the whole process. Other important reasons were for example; how clients experienced their partnership in relation to the social worker, the experience of feeling and doing together, and the right time period of rehabilitation.
The interviewees' experiences were mainly positive, and their experience showed them that the relevant positive experiences are the factors of good, high quality and ethically based social work. Interviews upholded also Kokko’s (2004) investigation of client experiences in network meetings, and expertise and power.
The thesis's research results can be used for example in a base of discussion or education for how customers experience the good and high quality customer encounter.
The thesis also clarifies threats of social work or problem areas in which the client becomes from the subject to an object.
