Tiivistelmä
The aim of this thesis is to provide the case company with information on internationalising its operations. Since the company is involved in e-commerce and sells its products online, e-retailing is discussed in a broader sense. Further discussion includes the implications of crossborder e-commerce and online marketplaces as a business model.
The research methods used are desktop study and interview. The desktop study is used for the most part of the thesis, while the interview method is applied to complement the SWOT-analysis.
Since the case company is yet at the very beginning of its internationalisation process, a compact overview of the topic is given. As an outcome, the company is presented with the theoretical approach to internationalisation as well as with the flow of the general planning process. PEST- and SWOT-analyses map out the external and internal environments. A practical checklist gives instructions on what the company should do and where to start from.
