Opticians and optical market in Finland has been plenty of media coverage in recent years. The optical field gain foothold in foreign low-cost competitors like Specsavers have caused turmoil in the customer base and stable market accustomed to other actors in the field among them.
The purpose of this research is to study the entry and operations in Finland and also the cultural distance. Case company is Specsavers, optical business from UK. Uppsala internationalization theory has been used in this research to study Specsavers entry in Finland 2007 and SWOT analysis evaluating both entry and operation. Hofstede´s four dimensions are base for cultural differences between Specsavers UK and Specsavers Finland.
