The purpose of our thesis is to produce an educational material for those who work with small children. The educational material consists of 10 musical fairytales that we have written ourselves. Every fairytale has a theme and a musical goal. At the same time we hope that the fairytales could give the children some life lessons.
In our thesis there is a description of the effect that the use of musical fairytales has in teaching of young children. We point out the aims that we have with the fairytales is to clarify their pedagogical intention and to make it easier to facilitate its pedagogical use. The analysis of the fairytales’ educational goals is based on a hermeneutic approach where the interpretation defines the tool.
The conclusion of our thesis is that the use of the musical fairytale is a purposive and a fun instrument to use in the education of small children. The children will learn while they are using their imagination, playing and having fun.
