The thesis was a commission by the Eastern Uusimaa based association HyVäl rf, which was established in 2011 to cater for the needs of companies in the wellness business. The main purpose of this study was to make a marketing plan for the association and to sort out what the members were ready to do to develop the association operations in 2012.
The theoretical framework is based on literature on marketing in modern day, custom-ership, branding and opinion forming. Also association activities are explained and out-lined.
The research method used in the thesis is qualitative with some quantitative character-istics. The survey was sent by e-mail to all 20 members of the association. The answers were analyzed by the Webropol program and some Excel tables and figures.
The survey results show what the members want to spend time and money on to de-velop the association and its activities. The majority of the respondents are of the opin-ion that they would like to organize more joint activities for the members, for example theme nights where they could become acquainted with other members and their companies. They also think that they should invest more in marketing the association in order to make it better known as a whole. Since only half of the respondents answered the survey, the result is not 100 per cent reliable. However, those who responded were of high reliability and they were interested in developing the business with their own contribution.
The conclusion that can be drawn from the findings is that all association members should sit down and think about in which way they want to develop their association. They should also be concerned about further improving the marketing efforts to make the association more known to the public.
