Tiivistelmä
Individen är en social varelse, som behöver socialt umgänge. Fysisk aktivitet är en viktig faktor i individens välmående och alla individer har rätt till det. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att svara på behovet för grupp och fysisk aktivitet hos barn med diagnosen Downs syndrom samt redogöra för vilka special omständigheter gäller inom utvecklingsstörningen. Forskningsfrågorna handlar om socionomens roll och metoder inom en sådan verksamhet samt barnens specialbehov. Den teoretiska referensramen innefattar socialpedagogik, utvecklingsstörning och Downs syndrom, dessutom diverse underrubriker. Metoden för examensarbetet är litteraturstudie, där resultatet är en förståelse av ämnet genom analys av artiklar. En viktig referens i arbetet är Veronica Sherbornes (1993) material om idrottsverksamhet med barn med specialbehov. Examensarbetet kommer att resultera i en gymnastikgrupp för barn med Downs syndrom, som formas i föräningen Vantaan Voimisteluseura. The individual is a socially active creature and is in need of social company. Physical activity is a key factor in the wellbeing of an individual and all of us are entitled to it. The purpose of this study is to respond to the need of group and physical activity in children with Down Syndrome. Further more the aim is to research in the special needs that apply with these children. The research questions focus on the roll of the professional and the methods suitable for the work with children with DS. The theoretical frame includes socialpedagogy, disability and Down syndrome. The method for this study is a literary review, in which the result is an understanding of the subject trough analysis of articles. One of the key references is the work on physical activity with children with special needs by Veronica Sherborne (1993). In the future the result of this study is to form an actual gymnastics group in Vantaan Voimisteluseura. The group is going to be based on this study.
