Events have been arranged since far back in history, but the concept of event planning is a fairly new phenomenon. All events that are held have a purpose, and what they have in common is that they bring people together to take part of the same event. An example of such an event is a charity event. When planning an event you should take into considera-tion several different components, depending on the type of event. The processes in plan-ning an event can be divided into several phases, which are planning phase, follow out phase and evaluation phase. This work includes event planning both from a theoretical point of view, but also through a practical work in the form of an event.
The event's purpose was to organize a fundraiser for both men and women, all funds went directly to the Pink Ribbon campaign. The event was called in Finnish by the name Naisten ilta. Pink Ribbon Campaign is part of the Cancer foundation, whose proceeds go to research of breast cancer. This work was made for Porvoon Paahtimo, a bar & cafe business in Porvoo. The evaluation of this event is based on a comparison between the practical work and the theoretical part. Other materials used in the evaluation were col-lected through observations and discussions among participants. As a conclusion it was found that the writer succeeded in its purpose with the event, and that the overall event planning process will vary depending on the event's purpose and the type of event that is the question.
