The subject of this thesis is to find out whether it has become more popular for Finnish individuals to invest in foreign companies. In the theory part I bring up different comments that can have an effect on the investors’ decision and in the empirical part I am trying to get answers to the questions asked. The theory part discusses the start of globalisation and where it is today. I will also bring up how the globalisation has affected Finland. The Financial crisis of 2008 and other financial crisis, which could have affected the investors’ decisions, are also mentioned. Different savings are also mentioned and how investors act when making an investment. The empirical part consists of face-to-face interviews with five persons. The persons interviewed work at banks or consultancies in Vaasa. The interviews were conducted with these persons in order to give the work a high reliability since all interviewees have many years of experience in the trading business and have a good view of how investments are made. The results that I came up with in my thesis are that investments are often made in other countries than Finland, but Finland is still very popular among investors. It all depends on the person that makes the investment and how the economy is in countries at the time of making the investments.
