This thesis goes through different methods to broadcast radio and discuss which method could be used in the future by being the most efficient and economical method. Nowadays we have two different analog broadcasting methods AM and FM, both well used in almost the whole world. Both AM and FM have their good and bad sides. The analog systems are still used in most part of the world, when the new digital systems are spread around the world and many countries want their own system. Many countries in Europe have already chosen to use a standard that is equivalent to televisions digital broadcasting technic. Could that be a good system for Finland to use? Or is there any other method that would be better for Finland. This thesis does not tell about methods that could work but are not tested. The Finnish broadcasting company YLE has been testing digital broadcasting but the project was laid on ice because of too little interest from commercial companies and listeners. Could this method be something for Finland or is there any better method that is not yet tested here. The result of this thesis is presented as a comparison between different methods.
