Tiivistelmä
This thesis, part of Mervento Ltd’s China Project in 2011, investigates Chinese wind turbine manufacturers, the available turbines on the Chinese market as well as new developments in the market.
Mervento Ltd is the leading global provider of multi-megawatt direct drive wind turbine power plant solutions for onshore, near shore and offshore applications and the target of this thesis is an analysis of the Chinese wind energy market in order to facilitate Mervento Ltd finding a partner for their Chinese venture.
The thesis goes on to screen possible candidates for partnership according to criteria set forth by Mervento Ltd and then make suggestions regarding potential partners. This research is needed since the Chinese market is not yet transparent enough for foreign companies to draw their own conclusions. Language and informational barriers mean that information has to be accumulated and translated from official Chinese government or other reliable national source, most often officially published documents only made available online and often in separate reports.
The thesis shows that due to regulations being introduced in 2011, the potential for finding a suitable partner is higher than ever. Mervento’s PMDD technology and maintenance solution fits well with the current needs of the Chinese market. The screening of companies gives Mervento Ltd several main candidates for partnership as well as some secondary ones.
