This thesis deals with field computers and the programs for the forestry management association Österbotten, and how new technology best can be introduced in their work.
The purpose of this study was to investigate what affects the use of field computers. The theory of change and learning, technology and the forest management association's activities were put in relation to the qualitative interviews that were conducted.
The result of the interviews show that the forestry professionals have a positive attitude to the use of field computers, but they want access to different kinds of support when using field computers and they want to learn through practical application.
Conclusions to be drawn are that increased participation in decision-making processes can have a positive effect on attitudes to field computers. Educational efforts could in the future be concentrated on those professionals who use field computers, so they feel that they get good support from the employer. Internal educations are widely used in the forest management association and it can be a great way to teach the use of field computers because it offers both the opportunity to apply and learn new routines.
