Tiivistelmä
The research is a foresight study on Logistics in Southern-Eastern Finland in 2020. The research was made as a case stud
The aim of the study was to find a way to strengthen the competitiveness of the area’s logistics and especially the case company’s strategic management through finding the trends and innovations that might influence the transit business in the year 2020.
The research was conducted as a case study, and Delphi method was used in getting the foresight knowledge. There was an expert panel that answered the questions on the future, upon which the scenarios were created.
As a result, there were three scenarios created: Succeeding through International co-operation and networking, Steady middleman arises from ashes and Squabbling Ha-ven. In all the scenarios is seen the influence of the local politics, the possible break-through in technological innovations concerning the customs procedure, and most strongly the Russian situation that influences strongly in transit business overall. Any bigger changes cross the border dramatically affect the business. It is strongly recom-mended for the case company to prepare for the future and its possible changes by fol-lowing the trends in logistics that arise from this study as well as from the wider fore-sight studies made in Europe at the same time.
