Abstract
Infrastructure construction is a continuously evolving field. Building information modelling has already been taken into use in construction, which brings potential for better, more efficient ways of working such as 4D scheduling. Granlund offers 4D scheduling services for building construction and has set goals to expand its services to other fields of construction. This thesis is about the productisation of 4D scheduling services for infrastructure construction. First, a literature study was conducted which covered service productisation, infrastructure construction areas relevant to the thesis, BIM, as well as 4D scheduling. The study was conducted using multiple online sources, textbooks, previous work on productisation done by collaborative partners Lean 4D Oy and Granlund Oy, as well as an interview conducted with an expert. The study described key differences between building and infrastructure construction scheduling. Strategies for service productisation were reviewed and a suitable model was chosen. The productisation strategy was conducted for 4D scheduling services for infrastructure construction, which included specifying, branding, and pricing. The productisation was deemed successful, as all stages of the productisation were completed. The goals set by the collaborative partners were also met. The thesis suggests ways of developing the infrastructure construction 4D scheduling service further, once it has been taken into use.
