Abstract
This master's thesis was completed for a company manufacturing industrial compressors, Solyvent Fläkt Oy. The operational quality of the company was reviewed too low and it did not support the intended business performance. The objective of this master's thesis was to analyse and improve the operational quality. Qualitative and quantitative research methods were used as a methodological framework for the study. The unit of analysis was the value stream of the company considering the product family chosen for the master's thesis. Value stream analysis exposed the disturbances in the operational processes and operational phases. From the total lead time of the value stream 75 percent was used for value creation. Difference between the total lead time of the value stream and the combined lead time of value creating processes was formed mainly by waste in subcontracting and production. More accurate analysis of the value stream revealed unintended stock and rework cycles in the operations. Problems which lowered the level of operational quality were identified as quality defects in the subcontracted components, stock, work-in-progress, delays in the operational phases and absence of operational measurements. These problems degrade the performance of the company especially as every product manufactured is unique. Improving the operational quality of the company requires setting and clarifying the objectives of the company to the whole organization. Secondly the company needs to remove the delays and quality defects in the operational phases, create measurements for quality and value in the operations and develop the subcontractor relationships. The company should adopt the concepts of continuous improvement and process approach to operations.Tämä diplomityö tehtiin toimeksiantona teollisuuspuhaltimia valmistavalle Solyvent Fläkt Oy:lle. Kohdeyrityksen operatiivisen toiminnan suorituskyky ei tukenut yrityksen päämääriä ja sisäisen toiminnan laatutaso oli alhainen. Diplomityön tavoitteeksi asetettiin yrityksen operatiivisen toiminnan laadun arviointi ja parantaminen. Työssä käytettiin laadullisia ja määrällisiä tutkimusmenetelmiä metodologisena runkona tutkimukselle. Työn analyysiyksikkö oli kohdeyrityksen arvontuottoketju valitun tuoteperheen osalta. Arvontuottoketjun avulla paljastettiin häiriöt kohdeyrityksen operatiivisista prosesseista ja toiminnan laadussa. Arvontuottoketjun kokonaisläpäisyaikaan suhteutettuna arvoa tuotettiin 75 % kokonaisläpäisyajasta. Kokonaisläpäisyajan ja arvoa tuottavien vaiheiden keston erotus koostui pääasiassa hukasta alihankinnassa ja tuotannossa. Arvontuottoketjun tarkemmasta analyysista tunnistettiin tahattomien varastojen syntyminen ja uudelleen tehtävän työn syklit operatiivisessa toiminnassa. Operatiivisen toiminnan laatuongelmiksi paljastuivat laatupoikkeamat alihankituissa komponenteissa, varastot, keskeneräinen tuotanto sekä operatiivisen toiminnan vaiheiden sisäiset myöhästymiset ja mittariston puute. Ongelmat operatiivisessa toiminnan laadussa heikentävät kohdeyrityksen suorituskykyä erityisesti, kun otetaan huomioon toimitusten yksilöllisyys. Operatiivisen toiminnan laadun parantaminen vaatii kohdeyritykseltä tavoitteiden asettamista ja selventämistä, sisäisten myöhästymisten ja laatupoikkeamien poistamista, mittaristoa operatiivisen toiminnan vaiheiden laadun- ja arvontuottokyvylle, alihankintayhteistyön kehittämistä sekä jatkuvan parantamisen ja prosessimaisen lähestymistavan omaksumista operatiiviseen toimintaan.Description
