Abstract
Objectives The main objectives of this study were to develop theoretical models that are able to explain the mechanism of how organizational benefits are created from business analytics (BA), to identify factors that are significant to the successful application of business analytics within organization, to explore how companies are implementing BA within their business and to suggest potential areas where organizations can improve their BA practices. Summary Previous researches have identified multiple organizational benefits associated with BA usage. However, these benefits are usually the easily observable final outcomes. This thesis extends such understanding in the field of BA by proposing two conceptual frameworks through which the process of BA and the antecedents of BA success can be visible. The frameworks are then used to empirically test through three case studies. Conclusions The proposed frameworks explain how the generated insights from BA help organization efficiently allocate and organize their resources at each stage. Results from interviews, together with existing literature, identified data quality, the level of technological fit, analytical talents, leadership and data-driven culture as the primary success factors in BA usage across organizations.
