Abstract
Tämän diplomityön tavoitteena oli tutkia olemassa olevia näytteistykseen perustuvia reitinsuunnittelualgoritmeja sekä löytää sopivia algoritmeja reitinmuodostukseen simuloidulle käsivarsirobotille muuttumattomassa ympäristössä. Työssä toteutettiin reitinsuunnittelujärjestelmä osaksi hitsausrobotin offline-ohjelmointityökalua. Toteutettaviksi algoritmeiksi valittiin nopeasti tutkiva satunnaispuu (RRT), probabilistinen reittikartta (PRM) sekä niiden erilaisia muunnoksia. Tyypillisessä reittiongelmassa alku- ja päätepisteen määriteltiin sijaitsevan kapeissa käytävissä konfiguraatioavaruuden ollessa muuten tilava. Työssä haluttiin selvittää, kuinka kauan eri algoritmeilla kestää reittien ratkaisussa ja miten nopeita löydetyt reitit on suorittaa. Lisäksi tutkittiin, hyötyvätkö PRM-algoritmit valmiiden reittikarttojen käyttämisestä. Tulosten perusteella kaksipuinen RRT-algoritmi sekä laiskaa törmäystarkastelua käyttävä probabilistinen reittikartta ratkaisevat reittejä nopeimmin. Huonoimpia algoritmeja onnistumisasteen suhteen olivat yksipuiset nopeasti tutkivat satunnaispuut.

The goal of this master’s thesis was to examine existing sampling-based path planning algorithms and to find suitable path planning algorithms for a simulated robot arm in a static environment. A path planning system was implemented to extend the functionality of a welding robot offline programming tool. The Rapidly-exploring Random Tree (RRT), Probabilistic Roadmap (PRM) and their modified versions were chosen for implementation. In a typical planning problem the start and end points are defined to be located in narrow passages while the clearance level of the rest of the space is high. The goal was to find out, how long different algorithms require time to find a solution and how fast the execution times of the path solutions are. It was also researched, whether PRM-algorithm gets any benefit from pre-computed roadmaps. According to the results the RRT-algorithm that uses two trees and the PRM-algorithm that uses lazy collision checking are the fastest algorithms to find paths. The RRT-algorithms that use only one tree had the worst success rates. Furthermore, the pre-computed roadmaps mostly worsened the performance of the PRM. When the pre-computed roadmaps were used, the solution times for the most part increased and the paths were not significantly better.
