Abstract
Työn tuloksena esimerkkikohteen korjaussuunnitelmat saatiin tuotettua tietomallipohjaisesti. Mikäli korjaussuunnittelun aluksi on korjattavasta kohteesta luotava olemassa olevan rakenteen malli, on tietomallintaminen esimerkkikohteen perusteella työläämpää kuin perinteisillä 2D-piirustuksilla esitettävän suunnitelman laatiminen.

Research concerning Building Information Modelling (BIM) mainly concentrates on the design and building phases. Less research has been done concerning bridge maintenance and repair. Bridge repair work is typically a large part of the overall maintenance costs of bridges. The literary review of this thesis gives an insight into how the use of BIM has been researched and adopted in repair and maintenance work and design around the world, including Finland. A way to connect the BIM model of a repaired bridge to a BIM based bridge management system is also dealt with in the thesis. The subject of using BIM in bridge repair is approached through a case study of an existing reinforced concrete bridge whose repair designs were made alongside this thesis using BIM. A surface model created from point cloud data of the existing bridge was good initial data for the creation of the case study BIM model. Most of the repair works could be modelled on top of the initially created bridge BIM model. The status of the different parts of the model, whether they are to be demolished during the repair work, remain untouched or are new structures to be built, could be expressed clearly in the model. Bridge repair drawings were created from the BIM model. The naming and numbering practices developed during the case study proved to be suitable for their purpose. The creation of the repair designs was nevertheless slowed down and less inefficient than hoped, due to problems and restrictions that occurred in the actual modelling work and the modelling software. The repair plans of the case study bridge were made using BIM. Based on the results of the case study using BIM seems to be more laborious than drawing the design plans in 2D.
