Abstract
The focus of this study is a person's ability to promote ideas, described as one's perceived innovativeness, estimated by co-workers in the company. The original information was gathered from a professional service firm with approximately one hundred employees, working on a knowledge intensive line of business. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of the centrality measure of an employee's location at the office on his perceived innovativeness using statistical measures. Correlation coefficients and linear regression models are used to clarify the relationships between the examined variables. Information describing the background and work related status of the employees is formed into suitable control variables. Two separate sets of data from 2006 and 2007 are used to study the statistical characteristics of the variables. In addition to that, the changes in dependent and independent variables between the two measurements were also analyzed using the same methods. The results obtained here are not highly significant statistically. Nonetheless, there is some evidence that an increase in a person's centrality also induces positive changes in the perceived innovativity. However, studying the separate data sets with the statistical models failed to indicate similar interdependencies.
