Tiivistelmä
IoT Cloud on kasvanut eksponentiaalisesti viime vuosina.
Tämän kandidaatintyön tavoitteena on selvittää, mikä on IoT Cloud. Työssä tutkitaan ketkä ovat neljä keskeisintä palveluntarjoajaa, mihin IoT Cloud -alustat ovat tyypillisesti tarkoitettu käytettäväksi sekä ovatko palveluntarjoajien tarjoamat palvelut standardoituja. Tutkimus toteutettiin kirjallisuuskatsauksen muodossa.
IoT Cloud on kuvattu työssä kolmikerroksisena. Pilvi on keskitetty kokonaisuus, palveluntarjoajan palvelin. Sumu sisältää kaikki tiedonvälityslaitteet, kuten reitittimet, tietokoneet ja muut mahdolliset solmupisteet tiedon siirrolle. Reuna sisältää kaikki anturit ja muut aistintalaitteistot. IoT Cloud näyttää jatkavan kasvuaan eksponentiaalisesti tulevaisuudessakin. IoT:n ollessa vielä uusi kokonaisuus, uutta tietoa tulee jatkuvasti lisää. Tämä aiheutti ongelmia tiedon luetettavuuden kanssa. Tiedot saattoivat olla ristiriitaisia, jopa palveluntarjoajan omien sivujen kesken. In the last years IoT Cloud has grown exponentially. There are 152 service providers in this field and approximately 23.14 billion devices. IoT Cloud is multi layered extensive entity which combines large amount of different kind of actions and devices in to one entity. The amount of services, service providers, users and use cases are many and therefore terminology and practices differ between users and providers.
This bachelor's thesis goal was to get a comprehension of what the IoT cloud system is. This study focuses on which four providers are the main service providers, and where are the IoT Cloud platforms typically meant to be used according to the service providers and are the services standardized. Additionally, a case-study of these four central service providers was made. The research was done as a literature overview.
The study showed that the four central service providers were Amazon, Google, IBM and Microsoft. As IoT Cloud is a mixed entirety, its systems were almost always built for the needs of their user. It is important to notice that IoT Cloud as whole is not standardized yet, only some parts of it are. IoT Cloud's simplest representation is depicted as a three-layered system. IoT itself is just a combination of fog and edge, meanwhile IoT Cloud is cloud, fog and edge. Cloud is the highest centralized entity, usually the service provider's server. Fog holds all the information of the relay devices, such as routers, computers and other possible nodes. Edge contains all sensors and other sensory hardwares. IoT Cloud seems to be continuing its growth exponentially in the future. As IoT is still a new system, new information is constantly coming out. This caused problems with the legibility of the information as the information might have been conflicting even between the websites of the service providers.
