Pienasiakkaalla on kolme tapaa osallistua kysyntäjoustoon.
Demand response can be defined as a change in normal electricity consumption of the consumer as a reaction on the price of electricity or due to steering coming from the side of the electricity supplier. So far, consumers haven’t really taken part in demand response due to the lack of necessity, technology and a lack available products.
In the first parts of this bachelor’s thesis it is determined what demand response is and quickly went through why demand response is topical. After this, it goes through solutions offered for consumers to participate in demand response and divides them in three distinct types. At the end of the thesis, the information on these types is gathered in to a table and the thesis ends on an assessment of pros and cons of the solutions.
The consumer has three ways to participate in demand response.
In steering due to the price of electricity the consumer follows the Spot-price of electricity and aims their consumption from the hours of higher electricity price to hours when the price of electricity is lower. The price of electricity in the consumer’s electricity contract is based on the Spot-price of electricity, so the incentive for the consumer to participate in demand response is a smaller electricity bill.
In the automation product the consumer gives the control of their home’s electric appliances to the automation system, that handles their control either through outer commands or by following the Spot-price of electricity. Examples of appliances under control of the automation system would be the house’s heating system or the boiler.
In the energy-based product, the consumer pledges to keep their consumption on the cur-rent level and possibly to steer their consumption in accordance to the requests from the providing company by avoiding excess electricity consumption during certain hours. The consumer has a set-price electricity contract, where they pay the same sum for their electricity each month. The participation of consumers in demand response is currently quite rare and quite awkward, but it will most likely become more common and much easier in the future.
