Tiivistelmä
Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on tunnistaa keinot, joilla prossesijohtamista voidaan kehittää rakennustuoteteollisuuden yrityksessä. Tutkimuksen lopputuloksena esitellään kehitysehdotuksia prosessijohtamisen parantamiseksi kohdeorganisaatiossa.
Työ on pääasiassa laadullinen tutkimus. Työ koostuu teoreettisesta osasta sekä kahdesta case-osiosta. Ensimmäisessä case-osiossa syvennytään koko organisaation prosessijohtamisen tasoon verkkokyselyn avulla. Toisessa osiossa käsitellään organisaation yhtä ydinprosessia, teräspalkkituotannon tilaus-toimitusprosessia, johon syvennytää teemahaastatteluiden avulla.
Työn tuloksena esitetään kolme ylätason kehitysehdotusta organisaation prosessijohtamisen kehittämiseksi sekä yhdeksän kehitysehdotusta ydinprosessin kehittämiseksi. Ydinprosessin kehityehdotukset pisteytettiin kohdeorganisaation edustajien kanssa yhteistyössä, minkä perusteella niille asetettiin toteuttamisjärjestys. Yleisesti kehitysehdotukset koettiin varsin helppoina toteuttaa, koska ne eivät vaadi suuria investointeja. Ehdotukset ovat pääasiassa yhteisten toimintatapojen kehittämistä. Nämä toteuttamalla voidaan saavuttaa huomattavia hyötyjä organisaation sisällä. Aim of the thesis is recognize the ways how process management can be improved in a company that operates in construction product industry. Research shows how order-to- delivery process can be improved and how it should be measured. Study also brings up how different kind of information systems can support process management. Results of the study are development proposals, which tell how the process management should be improved in the target organization.
Study is mainly qualitative, and it consists of theoretical part and two case studies. For the first case study, the process management of the whole organization was analyzed via an online-survey. The second case study concerned one of the core processes of the organization, teel beam production’s order-to-delivery process. Second case study included semi-structured (theme) interviews.
The results of the study are three upper level development proposals for improvement of process management of the organization and nine development proposals for improvement of the core process. Development proposals of the core process were scored together with representatives of the organization and the scores gave base for the implementation plan/order. Generally, these development propasals are relatively easy to implement, because they do not require big investments. Proposals are mainly development of common ways of actions. By implementing these proposals, organization can achieve substantial benefits internally.
