Tiivistelmä
Diplomityö on tehty suomalaiselle, painelaitteita valmistavalle konepajalle. Työn tavoitteena on suunnitella systemaattisen tuotekehitysprojektin pohjalta kohdeyritykselle kaksi sarjatuotantoon soveltuvaa lämmönvaihdinta.
Tuotteiden sarjatuotettavuuteen voitiin vaikuttaa tuotekehityksen aikana muuttamalla runkojen osat hitsatuista erillisosista valuosiksi. This master’s thesis is made for a Finnish pressure vessel manufacturer. The goal of the thesis is to design two series manufacturable heat exchangers for the target company, using a systematic design approach. One of the designed heat exchangers is a shell-and-tube heat exchanger and the other a plate-and-shell heat exchanger which was designed according to a product idea of the company. The research methods used in this thesis are literature review, product development model by Gerhard Pahl and Wolfgang Beitz, analytical calculations and computer aided analyses.
The research questions are the following: which details should be considered in the product development of a series producible shell-and-tube and plate-and-shell heat exchanger and why, why would either of them be suited for a series produced product for the company and which one of them would be more suitable? The thesis focuses on the structural product development and choosing of the manufacturing methods for the parts of the products.
The thesis resulted with two heat exchangers from which the other was a shell-and-tube heat exchanger and the other a welded plate-and-shell heat exchanger. These two heat exchangers were compared, and as a result the company chose the plate-and-shell heat exchanger for further development. The series producibility of the products could be affected during the development by designing the shells to be made from castings. Also, the heat transfer elements were designed to be welded with partly or fully automated laser welding. As a conclusion, the welded plate-and-shell heat exchanger was more profitable for becoming a new product for the target company. It had more novelty value and greater heat transfer surface per mass unit than the shell-and-tube heat exchanger.
