Tiivistelmä
Tämän kandidaatintutkielman tavoitteena on verrata kolmen eri sähkömoottorityypin resurssitehokkuutta keskenään. Toisessa konseptimoottoreista vääntömomenttia on vahvistettu kestomagneettiavusteisuudella. The goal of this bachelor´s thesis is to compare resource efficiencies of three different electric motor types with each other. This means the effect of reducing construction material and therefore the frame size of the electric motor to the energy efficiency and nominal power of the motor. Indicators used for defining resource efficiency are the function of the nominal power of the motor and its weight, as well as the comparison of energy efficiencies of the different types of motors when driven with similar rotational speed. The device that served as a baseline motor in this thesis is a traditional induction motor with a cast iron frame, which has been integrated with a centrifugal pump with additional shaft housing. The two concept motors that are compared to the baseline motor are synchronous reluctance motors made of aluminium and have a significantly smaller frame and weight than the baseline motor. The concept motors have no additional shaft housing between them and a centrifugal pump, and one of them contains permanent magnets in order to increase its torque. At the beginning of the thesis, the compared electric motor types are introduced and the concept of resource efficiency is explained. After this, material information and energy efficiency measurement results of the compared motors are presented. Finally, the most significant conclusions are drawn and the thesis is summarized. The most important conclusion of the thesis is that the resource efficiency of the two synchronous reluctance motors are way better than the resource efficiency of the induction motor. This can be seen in the measurement results in a way that the amount of construction material used in the concept motors is a lot smaller than the material used in the baseline motor, but despite that the energy efficiency of the concept motors is higher. This is due to differences in both the principle of the motors and the weights of them. It is also concluded that the permanent magnet assistance in the synchronous reluctance motor improves its energy efficiency, even though its addition to the weight of the motor is only slight.
