Analogisten EMI-suodattimien aktiivisten osien topologioita on kehitetty yhteensä neljä. Näistä jokaisella on omat vahvuutensa ja heikkoutensa. Heikkoudet ja vahvuudet tulee ottaa huomioon suodattimien suunnittelussa. Digitaaliset, aktiiviset EMI-suodattimet perustuvat FPGA piireihin ja A/D- sekä D/A –muuntimiin. Tutkimuksessa ilmeni, että aktiivisia EMI-suodattimia on tutkittu aktiivisesti vuodesta 2014. Suurinosa tutkimuksista on tehty Kiinassa.
The target of this Bachelor’s Thesis was to do research and determine the current state of active EMI filters. In other words, the goal was to find out which state their development is in and are they commercially available. Furthermore, this thesis gives an insight on who has done research on active EMI filters. Additionally, research was done to see where and when has the research been done. This thesis did not include any laboratory work, only literature research. The sources, which were used, consist of IEEE articles, Scopus database, web documents, electrical engineering literature and information found on the active EMI filter developers’ internet sites.
During the research, it became apparent that there are both analog and digital versions of the active EMI filters nowadays. The analog active EMI filters can be divided into active EMI filters, which consist of only active parts, and active hybrid EMI filters, which contain both active and passive parts. A total of four different topologies exist for the active parts. Each of them has their own strengths and weaknesses, which should be considered when choosing the topology for the filter. Digitally controlled active EMI filters are based on FPGA circuits and A/D and D/A converters. Finally, it was noticed that active EMI filters have been researched actively since year 2014. Most of the research has been done in China. Although dozens of research papers have been published and the strengths of active EMI filters are well known, only two companies sell them at this time.
The conclusions state that lots of research has been done on active EMI filters and they will be more widely used in the future when making EMI filters smaller without compromising attenuation characteristics becomes more and more important. Digitally controlled active EMI filters will especially become more widely used due to their adaptivity and small size. As of now, the high prices of the FPGA circuits are preventing companies from using digitally controlled active EMI filters.
