Tiivistelmä
Tutkielman tavoitteena on tutkia sitä, minkälaista arvoa Ruokakeskon omat eli private label -tuotemerkit tuottavat kuluttajille. Kuluttajien kokemaa arvoa on havainnollistettu Woodruffin ja Gardialin (1997) esittelemän hierarkkisen keino-tavoite-ketjun avulla. Tutkielmassa on lisäksi vastattu kolmeen alatutkimuskysymykseen. Asetettujen alatutkimuskysymysten avulla pystyttiin rakentamaan vastaus päätutkimuskysymykseen.
Tutkimus on toteutettu laadullisen kuluttajahaastattelun avulla ja tutkimusmenetelmänä on käytetty puolistrukturoitua teemahaastattelua. Kolmen yksilöhaastattelun tuloksena asiakkaiden kokema arvo on pystytty esittämään hierarkkisesti rakentuvana kokonaisuutena.
vaikuttavia komponentteja. Näiden arvokomponenttien vähentäminen tuotemerkkistrategiassa kasvattaisi mahdollisesti tuotemerkin kykyä tuottaa suurempaa kuluttajan kokemaa arvoa. The aim of this study is to identify, what kind of value the store brands (i.e private label brands) of Ruokakesko can give to consumers. Consumer perceived value has been illustrated by using Woodruffs and Gardialls (1997) hierarchical mean-end chain. In addition the following three sub-questions have been answered in this thesis: what is private label product, what is customer value and how it is formed and what is the consumers’ perceived value, considering Ruokakesko’s private label – products. The answers of the previously mentioned sub-questions form the answer of the main research question.
Research has been executed by qualitative consumer interviews and semi-structured theme interview has been used as the research method. With three individual interviews the perceived value of the brands could be demonstrated as hierarchically structured pattern. The results were gathered by using the chosen theory as a basis of the consumer perceived value, thereby the theory used is directly linked to the empirical study. The interviews revealed that the perceived value can be demonstrated with five factors. Those factors are good health, economy, fast purchasing process, quality of life and good mood and confidence towards the brand.
As a result, value hierarchy maps combined from interviews revealed that there were also factors that have a negative impact on the perceived value. These negative factors were observed especially in K-Menu’s value hierarchy map. This finding is partly expected as the brand is relatively new in the market and the traditional brand strategy, that K-Menu is following, cannot create as multi-dimensional value to the consumer as other brand strategies. Due to this finding, it can be presented that especially K-Menu has a lot of factors that affect negatively into consumer perceived value. By reducing these negative factors, brand’s ability to create consumer perceived value would increase.
