This master’s thesis studies influences of change of welding procedure to product to be weld. Aim of this thesis is to get comparative information between laser welding, laser-MAG-welding and submerged arc welding.
Basics of welding procedure those are under investigation, weldability and design process of product to be welded are handled in thesis theory part. In addition to theory part, welding procedures are compared between tests those are carries out to example product. Tests were carried out as welding procedure tests require. Tests those were included to welding procedures tests are visual examination, hardness test, tensile test, transverse bending test and impact test. In addition to the tests there were also observed distortions caused by welding process.
Transverse bending tests were not passed the demands by laser and hybrid welding processes. Additionally weld done with laser welding were not classified to quality level B. Main reason was welds undercut. Results of other test were even and strength of the welds were higher than welds made by submerged arc welding.
Process parameters for laser and hybrid weld were chosen by visual inspection. This lead to that welds mechanical properties were not optimize. With the results of the test it can be said that with laser and hybrid welding it is possible to achieve same level as traditional welding methods. However more study is required to optimize process parameters so that all tests of welding procedure will be.
