Pinnoite mallinnettiin lineaarisen standardiaineen mukaisesti. Telasysteemin parametrit määritettiin DMTA-mittaustuloksista ja systeemiä vastaavasta koelaitteesta kokeellisella moodianalyysillä ja elementtimenetelmällä. Numeerisesta stabiilisuusanalyysistä ja liikeyhtälöiden integroinneista saadut tulokset kertovat telapinnoitteen aaltomaisista deformaatiomuodoista ja niiden synnyttämistä taajuusalueittain esiintyvistä epästabiileista värähtelyistä. Telasysteemi on epästabiili pinnoitedeformaatiokuvion systeemiin aiheuttaman herätevoiman taajuuden ollessa lähellä systeemin korkeampaa ominaistaajuutta. Numeerisista tuloksista voitiin ennustaa nopean ja hitaan barringin olemassaolo. Many industrial machines utilize rotating nipped rolls to process sheetlike materials, for example, paper webs and steel plates. It is common for such nipped systems to exhibit mechanical vibrations caused by various excitation sources; these vibrations may lead to defective products. The aim of this work was to study viscoelastic polymers and harmful self-excited vibrations caused by a polymer cover in a nipped roll system.
A literature review was carried out on the physical properties of amorphous polymers. DMTA measurements were conducted for two amorphous roll cover polymers in order to study their thermorheological and mechanical properties in detail. By fitting the Generalized Standard Linear Solid model (GSLS) to the master curve of one of the polymers, the mechanical parameters and an approximation for the relaxation spectrum of the polymer were obtained.
The polymer cover induced self-excited vibrations of a nipped roll system were investigated by using an analytical model developed for a polymer-covered two-roll system, and by perfoming numerical calculations. The viscoelastic properties of the cover were taken into account in the model by the Standard Linear Solid model (SLS). The mechanical parameters of the roll system were determined from the DMTA measurements, and from a corresponding test machine by experimental modal analysis and finite element method. The results from numerical stability analysis and integrations of the equations of motion of the system show wave-like deformations appearing on the roll cover and separate instability regions of the system caused by the deformations. The roll system is unstable when the frequency of the deformation pattern related force is in the vicinity of the higher eigenfrequency of the system. It could be predicted, on the basis of the numerical results, that both fast and slow barring exist.
