Tiivistelmä
The topic of the diploma work is a small-scale camp center plan to Lempäälä. The 19 ha site is situated on the shoreline of lake Iso-Kausjärvi in the village of Lastunen in Lempäälä, and is owned by Tampere Pentecostal Church. The main building of the existing camp center on site was lost in a fire a year and a half ago and this plan is made to replace that.
The diploma work plan is a small public building, which serves the camping and other assembly activities of a small congregation. Basically the camp center is scaled to function with 75 people, of which about 30 person can be accommodated inside the new main building plan. For bigger assemblies there is more accommodation room in the existing cabins on site. As a basis for the size of the center has been the biggest space, the hall, where people gather daily to listen, play, act and eat.
The new main building of the camp center is situated on a small hill, on the edge of a forest. It actually consists of three different building masses, which are joint together by a large terrace in the middle. The terrace is open to the forest from two sides between the buildings and from one side it opens a view to a wide meadow.
The idea to the placement of the buildings has emerged from nature trails. Movement in the camp center happens through different spaces as small and big spaces and low and high spaces alternate like in a forest. The camp center contains a lot of lounge rooms that are different in sizes and that partly can be marked out for smaller rooms for smaller groups. The spaces vary in character too as the ideas behind the plan have been in social intercourse as well as solitude and silence. The division of the center to three building masses serves also this aspect.
The Finnish wilderness that borders the building group sets a unique atmosphere to the camp center. It is a basis for the ambience in the building and brings life to it as the tree branches cast their shadows through the skylights for example. The materials of the building are mainly wood and the references to forest can be seen in the build structure as well. As an architectural element there are covers from different materials on the buildings that flow from the roof down along the walls to the ground like bark covers tree trunks or like tree branches cover room beneath them. The closeness and appreciation of forest and nature is supported by vegetation as a cover material that attracts insects, butterflies and birds. Through personal sense and experience of nature a person can develop a better relationship with it, which in a long run enhances human will and the chances to live a longer and better life on earth. That has been a main purpose for this building plan. Diplomityön aiheena on pienimuotoisen leirikeskuksen suunnitelma Lempäälään. Tontilta paloi puolitoista vuotta sitten olemassa olevan leirikeskuksen päärakennus, jonka tilalle diplomityön rakennussuunnitelma on tehty.
Suunnitelmana on pieni julkinen rakennus, joka palvelee pienen seurakunnan leiri- ym. kokoontumistoimintaa. Lähtökohtaisesti leirikeskus on mitoitettu toimimaan 75:llä henkilöllä, joista noin 30:lle henkilölle löytyy yömajoitustilaa suunnitelman päärakennuksesta ja suurempien leirien kohdalla tontin muista, olemassa olevista mökkirakennuksista. Mitoituksen lähtökohtana on ollut keskuksen suurin tila, sali, johon kokoonnutaan päivisin kuuntelemaan, leikkimään, toimimaan ja syömään.
Leirikeskuksen uusi päärakennus sijaitsee pienen mäennyppylän päällä, metsän reunassa. Se koostuu itseasiassa kolmesta eri rakennuksesta, joita yhdistää rakennusten keskellä oleva iso terassi. Terassi on auki kahdelta puolelta rakennusten välistä metsään, ja yhdeltä puolelta siitä avautuu näkymä avaralle niitylle.
Idea rakennusten sijoitteluun on tullut luontopolusta.
/Kir11
